Choosing the Best Floor Plan for Your Modular Home

Many families are making the decision to build a modular home and for good reason! The benefits of residing in a modular home are endless. Aside from modular homes being known for a fast move-in, the customization features may be the most eye catching.

Your family has the chance to move into a new home specifically built for you! If you are feeling overwhelmed on getting started, don’t fret! The consultants at Green Valley Homes will guide you through the stages of choosing the best floor plan for your family.

What Exactly is a Floor Plan?

Floor plans are essentially the blueprints of an overhead layout of a home. Viewing pre-drawn floor plans allows you to get an idea of the style you prefer, how the rooms are connected, and what is best suited for your family. When choosing a floor plan, there are a few considerations to keep in mind to help you make the best decision.

Your Modular Home’s Purpose

Think of each room having its own purpose. For example, the kitchen is for cooking family meals while the living room is for relaxation and game nights. Keep this in mind when selecting your floor plan, as you may not want a bedroom right beside a living room where it could be loud. Taking time to consider the purpose of each living space will help you design accordingly.

Reflect Your Lifestyle

This is an opportunity to choose a modular home floor plan that truly reflects your lifestyle and is unique to you. Now is the time to take advantage of having your home reflect who you are. Perhaps you love cooking and are known to prepare holiday meals. Dedicate your time to ensuring the kitchen is designed with that in mind. Or, if you love to entertain you may be interested in having a larger living room. The possibilities are endless and completely up to you!

Don’t Forget Functionality

Browsing floor plans and designing a customizable space is exciting, but don’t forget about adding functionality to your space. Be sure to choose an appropriate amount of bedrooms for comfortable living. If you have kids who are prone to spills or pets likely to track in mud, consider opting for hardwood floors opposed to carpet. Functionality of your space allows you to enjoy your modular home with no worry.

Have you ever wondered how a modular home comes together and how the exterior walls are constructed?

How a Modular Home Comes Together

Building a Modular Home

The exterior walls of a modular home are built inside a temperature controlled facility with durable materials and products. These are the same materials that are used to construct a site-build home, however the difference being the home is not openly exposed to weather elements during construction. This helps prevent damage during the modular home building process and allows the build to be completed faster.

The modular home’s exterior walls are crafted with traditionally-sized studs framed on 16” centers, meaning the home is built with your family’s changing needs in mind. To add to this, both the door and windows feature structural headers for added security and functionality.

When constructing modular homes, providing a comfortable area of relaxation with no worry of safety hazards is our highest concern. This is why all electrical wiring is covered by steel plates which then passes through wall studs, ensuring safety and preventing damage.

When building the frame for a modular home, it’s more than putting up walls. It’s constructing the frame of your family’s future, where safety and quality are made a priority.

Steel I-beam Foundation

No matter where you stand in your new manufactured home, rest assured you are standing on tough, sturdy ground. Each of our manufactured homes is designed with a Steel I-beam within the foundation to provide secure flooring throughout the home.

Tough Lining

Not only is your new manufactured home equipped with a strong foundation, but also comes with a nylon-reinforced vapor barrier. This tough lining is energy efficient and acts as a block to outside temperatures, lowering the price of your utility bills.

Thick Insulation

To go along with the nylon-reinforced vapor barrier lowering the price of your cooling and heating systems, a thick insulation is also installed throughout the entire home. Plumbing is also installed within the insulation to protect the piping from extreme weather temperatures.
